Year 1 - Caterpillar Class & Canary Class
In September 2025 our PE Days will be:
Tuesday & Friday.
All About Year 1...
In Year 1 we learn to be more independent in our work. We still get to learn through play in our Discovery Area.
Our teachers are:
Mrs Kettlewell and Mrs May (Caterpillar Class) Mrs Horsfield & Mrs Kettlewell (Canary Class).
In Year 1 we go into assembly.
We get lots of opportunities to be active throughout the school day during our learning time and the children will run the 1K around the courts.
Our PE days are Tuesday and Friday.
Please make sure your child wears the correct PE uniform and has their hair tied back.

Please be aware Phonics screening will take place In June 2026 for all children in Year 1.
Homework
Maths/English
Homework will be handed out on a Wednesday. The work will be in a homework book, just like in Reception. All the work will link to the work being taught in class. It may have an English, Phonics or a Maths focus.
Reading:
The children will read three times a week in school in their group with an adult. The children will bring home their Phonic book and their shared reading book after their third read in school. We ask that their Phonic book and shared reading book is returned on the following Monday. Please record any reading in the child's reading record. Don't worry if you have had a busy weekend and didn't get chance to read the book please just return as normal on the Monday thank you.
